These boots are great because they are very simple, not overly flashy, and just have a nice classic look. I bought them partly due to the great reviews they got before. Initially, I ordered a 7.5 (I wear 7.5 - 8 depending on the brand), and while the calf fit, the foot was too tight so I exchanged them for a size 8. I have a very athletic build and have athletic calves so it's really difficult to find boots that fit. These are great! They are tight enough in the leg so as not to be droopy, but not too tight as to be uncomfortable. I would not recommend these to friends with smaller legs/calves. Also, the shoe itself is super comfortable. I normally wear a 7.5 in boots, bought an 8 and had to push my not-wide foot in. As others reported the calf angles out a the top by the knee. It's too loose at the top.
