ABOUT Burton
In 1977, when snowboarding was still in its infancy, Jake Burton Carpenter designed his first board: the Backhill. Through the '80s, his namesake company continued to push the boundaries of the newly recognized sport, and in 1984 the first Burton snowboard jackets and pants were introduced. Today Burton jackets, backpacks and more are coveted worldwide.
Burton continues to develop new technologies at Craig's, the company's research and development facility in Vermont. There, snowboard engineers use custom-built machinery to experiment with new boarding ideas based directly on feedback from pro riders, dealers and customers. One of the latest innovations is the AK collectionhigh-performance outerwear enhanced by GORE-TEX fabric.
