Nordstrom Cares: Leave It Better Than We Found It

We've always followed a simple philosophy when it comes to running our business: Leave it better than you found it. This also describes Nordstrom's commitment to social responsibility. Since our early days, we've focused on doing the right thing for our employees and our customers. We continue to make every effort to be an ethical company where people want to work and shop. We're working to leave it better than we found it. Read more about our approach and learn about some of our highlights from 2013.

With the holidays upon us, it's time to start making your lists (and checking them twice). The search for meaningful gifts for everyone on your list has begun, and whether you're looking for something for grandparents, a favorite teacher or for the world's greatest hostess, there's one type of gift that's sure to leave them filled with holiday cheer—one that gives back.

When a child feels comfortable and confident, they're better able to succeed and thrive at school, on the playground and at home.
— Amy Fass, executive director at Shoes That Fit

This year, Nordstrom is again teaming up with customers, our partners at New Balance and the nonprofit organization Shoes That Fit to make this a great holiday season for some extra-special kids across the country. As we've done since 2010, we're working together through our Holiday Giving Program to give new shoes to children in need across the country.

From November 1 through December 24, 2014, customers who want to participate will have the opportunity to purchase a $10 giving card that lists the first name and age of a deserving child in their local community. Every giving card sold goes toward buying a new pair of shoes for that child before their holiday break.
