Organic Cotton Styles Purely for Men

Organic Cotton Styles Purely for Men
Natural and sustainable fabrics are a priority for today's menswear customers. Our environmentally friendly R44 collection offers contemporary and high quality styles that are also comfortable and versatile. And because organic cotton is the primary fabric used in R44 clothing, our customers know they are making an environmentally responsible choice.

"Our customers look for products that are environmentally sound, along with contemporary style. We are focused on exceeding our customers' expectation against both." —Red Godfrey, creative director at Nordstrom Creative Studio"When we began our efforts around organic and sustainable materials roughly five years ago, organic cotton was the primary fabric of choice for eco-friendly options, but it wasn't in plentiful supply," said Red Godfrey, creative director at Nordstrom Creative Studio. "Now organic cotton is more available because there's greater demand for it. And as demand has grown, the mills have become more willing to evolve their manufacturing processes to produce new textures and fabrications."

Quality head to toe

Like our exclusive Evergreen collection, R44 Rogan Standard Issue fabrics integrate a minimum of 50 percent sustainable and renewable materials, one of which is typically organic cotton. Launched during the 2010 holiday season, R44 is still in its infancy and will evolve over time. The collection is planned to include pure organic jeans, pants, T-shirts, woven and knit shirts, sweaters and outerwear.

"Our customers look for products that are environmentally sound, along with contemporary style," said Red. "We are focused on exceeding our customers' expectation against both."

"R44 is tough enough to work in, nice enough to wear out," added Eddie Curran, Men's brand manager, Nordstrom Product Group. "It's designed to attain character over time and engineered to fit well, with carefully calibrated details designed for modern living."

Easy on the environment

Organic cotton is the fabric of choice for many sustainable clothing designers. It is biodegradable and renewable, and it's hypoallergenic ? perfect for people with sensitive skin or allergies. A natural fabric, organic cotton improves air circulation by absorbing moisture and drawing heat away from the skin to keep the wearer cool and dry. When processed, less than 10 percent is lost or deemed unusable. It's also versatile and luxurious ? just what we wanted for our R44 brand.

By supporting organic farming and manufacturing, Nordstrom not only helps preserve the healthy resources of our planet, we also give our customers more earth-friendly options. R44 Rogan Standard Issue is one brand customers can feel good about wearing from beginning to end.
