On April 16 of this year, TOMS is asking everyone to go barefoot for a day to raise awareness for the millions of children around the world who don't have shoes themselves. The "One Day Without Shoes" global initiative will welcome participants from America to Asia and all across the globe to share this message. Please join TOMS and Nordstrom on April 16 and shed your shoes for a good cause.
A full day's walk on unpaved roads is not easy for anyone, especially for a 70-year-old, legally blind man from Nepal named Gyaljun Shelba. Fortunately, he had help from his son, who carried him to a mobile eye camp supported by TOMS eyewear purchases for free, professional eye care. After receiving cataract surgeries in both eyes, Shelba was able to see his wife clearly for the first time in more than a year, and his reaction was unforgettable.
In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One.®
