ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Born in Italy in 1932, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani seemed destined for greatness from the start of his career. He studied fashion design in Paris, launched his namesake label in 1959 and, by the mid-1960s, counted Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor among his clients. After an illustrious career, Valentino retired in 2008; now, with creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli at the helm, the brand remains as strong as ever.
