Bobbi Brown 'Extra' Soothing Balm 4.3 5 10 10

Not a miracle worker I have very sensitive skin with several dry-patches, and the Bobbi Brown rep suggested this as spot treatment. While I'm a huge fan of Bobbi Brown products, I found this one to be disappointing. It's fine, but nothing special, especially for the price. It hasn't made my skin any worse, but I'm not sure I've seen tremendous improvement. I was getting similar results with over the counter balm. This is also very difficult to apply -- the texture is very hard (almost like candle wax), so you can only pick up small amounts of the product at a time (and you have to work at it!) and then sort of have to dab it onto your face because it's too hard to "smooth" on. The hard texture also makes this impossible to travel with. The container is glass and heavy, which normally I like, but that's assuming I'm able to scoop out some of the product into a small tub for traveling. Not so with this one. You'd literally have to chisel it out. If you're on the go a lot, take note that this product is NOT portable. Lastly...I usually love the scent of Bobbi's skincare products. They're generally very clean. This one is rather floral. It doesn't smell bad, but it's definitely heavy on rose or lavender (maybe both), which I don't really care for. On the plus side -- it didn't make my skin break out at all. That's more than I can say for a lot of other things I've tried. Still--I won't be repurchasing. 4/26/13

Super. Great for dry ares. I use it all over my face at night and clearly see a difference in my skin. It is a small jar (I was a little upset about this) but realized you need SO little of this product for the results. 4/10/13

Bobbi Brown X Balm This balm is amazing I use it on my face...no breakouts. Its been perfect when the wind is whipping and dries out your skin. 1/22/13

Soothng Balm This is the first time trying this balm. I have very sensitive skin -prone to redness, flakiness, and dry patches. I've used this in various ways - on my bare skin for moisture or over moisturizer for an added boost and over foundation for a "dewy" finish and for blending the foundation a little. And it's worked all those applications. It's never heavy, it offers hydration and it is a great lifesaver for tired skin. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the smell - best way to describe it is "ginger"-like. The smell dissipates, but the initial smell is off-putting. Overall, a very small inconvenience for something that is gentle yet effective! 1/21/13
