Damien Hirst's 'ABC' Board Book
HideDetails & Care
Sensational British artist Damien Hirst, whose 2012 exhibition broke museum attendance records at the Tate Modern, deploys his most iconic images to create an ABCs board book equally mesmerizing to young art lovers and grown ones. Granted, it's unorthodox: We'll venture to guess there's no other ABC out there featuring a formaldehyde-preserved tiger shark (J is for Jaws), a diamond-studded skull (D is for Diamond) or a vitrine cow (C is for Cow) alongside a panoply of more cheery, colorful butterflies, fish and unicorns—but even the more macabre images only enhance the book's eerie, compelling magic. A secondary, typographical alphabet—A is printed in Albertus, B in Baskerville and so on—adds to the fun.
