Farr West Reversible Satin Tank
Not the same sizing as before
I've purchased this camisole many times over the years. This time the sizing is off - very baggy under the arms and too large. When its duplicate arrives, I will return them both - at that price too $$ to take to have fitted or put up with poor fit. Very disappointed as this style and brand has been my faithful standby for decades. The material is lovely, though. It was my favorite cami - comfortable, easy care, long wearing and versatile.
I have this in mink and black, size XL. I like the fact that is can be worn with 2 different neck lines. I wear this under tops that are a little too clingy or sheer. Tops float over this. So for me this is perfect. I wear them a lot.
Decent fabric, mediocre construction
I bought this in both Black and Mink and returned both. I needed silky camis to wear under pullover sweaters with ballet necklines, something to cover bra straps but that doesn't look like an undergarment where it's exposed. On both, the shoulder seams were not sewn straight and didn't lay flat, creating bumps where the shoulder straps were visible around the sweater neckline. It didn't create a refined finish to pair these poorly-made pieces with expensive sweaters, so they didn't work for my purpose. They run large around the armholes, but that would not have been an issue for my needs. A nice feature is that they're reversible, having two neckline styles, a V-neck and a scoop-neck. On one of them, the V gaped and did not lay flat. That's due to improper construction. I learned sewing from an expert dressmaker who apprenticed in Italy, so I tend to scrutinize everything, which can be a curse at times. The fabric is a nice weight and decent quality, but the mediocre manufacture doesn't do it justice. Don't be seduced by shine. Brands with good quality control would sell garments like these as irregulars at half price. If you don't have limitations like mine, stick with the tried-and-true brands like Vanity Fair, first quality construction at half this price, to get the job done. They've been around since our grandmothers' days because they offer good products with reputable quality control. We do have choices, ladies. I came across a couple of silky stretch jersey tank tops I had forgotten about, and they substitute perfectly as close-fitting camis. I'm happy I saved the money.
Beautiful fabric, great cut, inconsistent sizing
I'm 5'4, 130, 36 C with a 31 inch waist. I originally ordered this in black M but the package was mismarked so I got the light color (mink, I think it's called) in M. The color is really gorgeous and I actually kept it b/c it's so lovely. I'd describe it as a champagne color. The only problem is it gapes a bit under the arms. I still needed the black so I reordered the black in small and medium. The small fit well (no gaping under the arms and no pulling across the chest) except it didn't flow as nicely through the body (a little snug across the back). The black M does gape a little under the arms but not as much as the mink color M so it seems the sizing is somewhat inconsistent. The black fabric is also lovely. It's not a super deep black but it's high quality material and feels fantastic. I love that these tops can be worn as a V neck or as round neck. Both are very flattering. I would have rated 5 stars if not for the gaping under the arm problem.
