Frye 'Melissa Button' Boot
Not worth the money.
When I first saw these boots, I instantly fell in love. I bought them after I read many positive reviews on the Frye company and convinced myself that they were worth my money. After buying them, I noticed a small folded flap of leather on the seam and didn't care to examine it, as I thought it was part of the leather or how they were sewn. After a month of wearing them, I noticed that the "flap" was actually a sharp rip in the boot, which I would have never been able to do myself and it would be impossible to inflict if I was wearing them. I then exchanged them with no complications from the Nordstrom employees, which I appreciated very much.
However, the new boots don't fit properly even though they were the same size as the old ones. And I didn't care to try them on when I got them exchanged because the sales associate told me that every pair needs a little time to wear in. I've worn these boots almost every day this week and it still takes me 10 minutes to put them on and I can't imagine if I wore thicker socks with them. My heel stops right before I slip my foot into it entirely. It literally feels like a work out when I try to get these on and when I do, they fit perfectly! On top of that!: After rigorously taking them off today, I noticed little brown specks on my sock. The specks turn out to be the cushioning that is supposed to be attached to the bottom of the boot! I really wanted to fall in love with these but I am fed up. A boot this pricy shouldn't fall apart so fast. I just hope Nordstrom takes these back and I can spend that money on boots that won't fall apart in one week. I am size 8.5, 5'3" and 115lb. I don't understand why these boots won't slip on!
Very comfortable and very stylish. They are little more cowboy like than I expected but still very cute.
I got these boots for Christmas last year and am just getting around to writing a review. For some reason I don't think the Melissa Button boots photograph as lovely as they are in person and especially the vintage chocolate. I received the cognac for Christmas from my husband and when I saw these ones in the store did a little upgrading. They remind me of the perfect mixture between a distressed cowboy boot and a sleek riding boot, if that makes any sense. Sizing wise I have very narrow feet and while length wise my foot may be more of a seven in a half most of my shoes are sevens due to width issues. However after originally purchasing these boots in a seven and with some advice from a sales woman who owns them I went down to a six and a half. The sales woman said hers stretched so much so wishes she had sized down a full size and a half. If you live a very cold region and plan to wear thick and/or layer socks maybe you don't want to size down as much. I live in Ca so a pair of tights or regular socks does the trick here most winter days. All in all this boot doesn't disappoint!
