Frye 'Wyatt Disc' Short Boot
Frye does it again!
A perfect addition to my Frye boot and shoe collection. These boots fit true to size, are comfortable, and so unique! The distressed and hammered studded look is cool and the style is versatile. They will add a touch of chic ruggedness to any outfit. Love these boots!
great boot except the heel fit
I've been looking at these boots for a while (expensive!) but had some N. Notes to work off before they expired, so I made an online order, without trying on in store. I have another pair of Frye's (an engineer boot with a big toebox) in an 8, and I love their solid comfort and good looks, so I ordered these in an 8 as well. It seems to be my size in Frye's, as these are the correct length and width, and the footbed is very comfortable, even on my one plantar fasciitis foot. They look awesome. The only problem is the fit of the heel. My other Frye's cup my heel so that, even though the boots are wide for my rather narrow feet, my heel doesn't go sliding up and down the back of the boot the way it does in these. The Wyatt Disc boots really don't feel like they have any true heel cup at all, just a straight shot at the back of the boot on which my heel takes a slidey-ride with every step. I don't think I could take a narrower boot; the fit though the front of the foot and the arch is pretty snug, but the heel is WIDE. And there is a pretty prominent seam up the sides of the shaft, which could be a problem if one wore these boots without socks. There are pull tabs on each side, but they are oriented so that you can only get your fingers into them on the INSIDE of the shaft, not the outside, so that I scrape my finger on that hard seam when I use the pulls to get the boot on. Hmmm . . .
All that being said, these are AWESOME looking boots for skirts, pants, dresses, shorts or even (god forbid) overalls. I can't imagine many things I wear (no, I don't wear overalls) that wouldn't be improved by them; and the short loose-fitting shaft is flattering to calves like mine which are, let's say, not of the long and lean variety. And I am remembering that I thought my other pair of Frye's would be too large, too (I felt like I was wallowing around in them, but they were on sale at a price too good to walk away from), and they turned out fine. So maybe the heel-slipping thing is okay. I'm on the fence with this one; just wanted others who might be considering this boot to get a good description.
This boot has everything you would expect from a Frye boot plus more! The studs are fun and this scaled down cowboy boot pairs well with any outfit. Nordstrom has a real winner in this selection.
