Jill Stuart Illusion Yoke Lace Sheath Dress
The good things - the lace is so rich and the tailoring is perfect. On my 5'3" frame the length hit below-knee (which I prefer) and the higher slit in the back gave an otherwise sweet and conservative dress a good dash of flirtation. I am actually interested in it for non-wedding purposes - work, evening, summer parties. I have been daydreaming about this dress for atleast 2 months - (I was having a hard time justifying the price) but I'm finally going to take the plunge. That said, it looks and fits like a much more expensive dress.
The bad things - runs a size (or more) small. I think this is mostly due to the fact that there is no stretch in the lace. The bottom half is only lined with one layer of lining - I will be putting in an additional layer.
I was a little worried that this dress was going to fit small based on the reviews i have read but when I received my order I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful lace. The dress was exactly what I was looking for. I tried it on and it fit just right. The lining is a little sheer but can use a nude colored slip and it will be just fine. i gave it 4 starts due to the sheerness of the lining.
Beautiful, but tight and see-through!
I bought this dress as an option for my civil ceremony, loving the leaf lace detail and the length. The top fit lovely, but the bottom half was way too tight. I could barely breath or move. The slit was also very high in the back. I thought the darting in the front made it look a bit cheap. The bottom half lining is quite thin so you'd definitely need some under-slip or body-shaper if you didn't want to your underwear showing through.
Overall, would have had to spend way too much in alterations to make this my economical (read: inexpensive) wedding dress option. I'll be returning it.
Beautiful, with one major problem
This dress is lovely. The only problem is that the bottom of half of it is literally see-through; you might as well be wearing a lace dress with no lining. The top half has a double lining that is okay, but even that is a little questionable.
I will need to see if a tailor can rip out and re-do the lining. Sort of annoying that someone at the factory obviously made a mistake.
