Johnston & Murphy 'Larsey' Plain Toe Boot (Online Exclusive)
Bought these for my husband in black. He loves them. Very classic looking. Great with dress pants but also with jeans. Highly recommend.
Reduction in Quality
Johnston & Murphy shoes used to be of the quality of Allen Edmonds. If this boot is an example of present quality, then J&M quality has reduced, and is a little disappointing. The bottom of this shoe, the rubber, is thin, and I can feel the ground with every step. There is rubber but no hard leather layer as there used to be with J&M shoes. The upper leather is nice, a bit thin, but generally acceptable. The appearance is very good. My main concerns are the thinness of the shoe sole, and how the leather is connected to the sole. Its probably glued somehow, and I hope it holds up. I doubt it is sewn.
I give this a 2.8 out of 4.
Great boot for all seasons!
I live up in Canada in Alberta and bought this boot over others because of the rubber grip on the bottom. If you're trekking through deep snow, get something more heavy duty, but this is a great boot if you want to look professional with business attire. I got the black boot as I have a few pairs of brown shoes, and they look great. I'm sure the brown would too. They are super comfortable and have a removable insole if you so choose. They are true to size, so order what you normally wear. My feet fit comfortable with dress socks and snug with a wool sock.
They may take quite a few wears to break in, but I find that most good shoes do. If you're looking for a reasonably priced boot that looks great, then look no further. :)
