Johnston & Murphy 'Melton' Oxford
must have been that particular pair? I have been buying ONLY J & M for 35+ yrs ...my very favorites... would never have imagined . They were very uncomfortable 6 ways from sunday ... tried them twice ...after walking around house ... so painful ; had to send them back ... don't have a clue how to describe the fit and UN flexibility of the leather.
Actually dissapointed....First time ever... but really poor fit
I bought the bordeaux color. The leather has a nice, natural shine and is of good quality. It does NOT have the cheap, plastic-like shine/feel seen on cheaper dress shoes. I originally purchased a pair of Bostonian Andovers, which were utter trash, and ordered these instead.
The welt on the inner side of the shoe leaves some to be desired. It is not even on both shoes and not as good quality as say Allen Edmonds. I can accept this, given the price point.
The best quality dress shoe I've found for $175.
Inner lining not glued properly
This is the second pair (same order) of Johnston & Murphy shoes that I have had to return for the same reason, the inner lining was not properly glued. This is really a shame, since otherwise they appear to be nice shoes.
I love Nordstrom and I hope they address this quality control issue with Johnston & Murphy. Very disappointing.
Classic Dress Shoes
I bought these years ago and they are still great. Excellent quality.
