kate spade new york 'gold coast - georgina' quilted metallic shopper, medium
Kate Spade Georgina
This is a lovely quilted handbag. Wil get a lot of use. Very classic looking. This is my first Kate Spade, just never liked the ones I saw previously. Now I'm looking at her products more often.
This is a chic quality handbag that I will use for work and going to upscale/ special events. I love the roomy structure. It holds all my items with room to spare.
I couldn't decide between this style or the shopper version maryanne. Although I love the open versatility of the shopper style, the georgina's zipper closure makes this a nice option. It has a beautiful classic quilted texture. This a great addition to my collection.
Coco Chanel didn't carry an iPhone AND sunglasses!
I bought this bag in black after attending my son's graduation, for which I was wearing an elegant black dress. I would have carried my classic quilted black Chanel bag, but it's so small, I have to choose between carrying my cell phone OR my sunglasses, and forget trying to carry any kind of wallet. I also wanted to carry a camera and the graduation program, too, so I ended up carrying a black nylon LeSportsac tote. Nothing against LeSportsac, which is fine for travel or casual wear, but it looked really tacky with my dress. So when I saw this Kate Spade bag a few weeks later, it was the perfect solution to my problem of needing a dressy tote for more formal wear. Like my Chanel bag, it's soft black leather, quilted, elegant, classic and has chain handles, but it's a lot bigger! I also liked how the design tapers towards the top of the bag, which makes the bag a more-refined look -- it doesn't scream "shopper." I really like the zipper, so nothing can fall out, and the leather tops of the chain handles criss-cross and sort of stick to each other to keep the purse securely on my shoulder. It doesn't topple over when you set it on the floor. And last, but not least, the lining is a light beige, so you can actually find things in the interior of the bag; they don't disappear into a "black hole." Recently, I wore this bag to a business meeting, where it was an elegant complement to my suit AND able to hold a big sheaf of papers. At $458 this bag might seem pricey, but it's a lot more functional than my Chanel bag, for which I paid over $3000 a few years ago.
