Rugged Handsome Sandal Reviewer is my Son 47, constantly active risk taking when not smoothing out feather fine detail oriented restorations or hard labor digging or demolition all day into the night. Only 2 Sandals of my Life 1/2 Barefoot from growing up in So. Cal. to recent work on each of the Hawaiian Islands. These Keen Gilsans and Timberlands Fisherman Classic Altamont's are the only Sandal that are worthy enough to bring out a review. I can burn up break down Sandals in usually 3 - 4 weeks ending up 1/2 Barefoot until I get another which I usually sample another of different make model ect.. These Gilsan's can be used to dig, swim, climb, shop or dine upscale resort or country club exclusive all in the same day without noticeable wear or loss in comfort. The first time wearing these (in Kauai# literally shopped 2 distinct areas. Lunched at the Hilton Private enclave, played 3 or 4 games beach volleyball, hiked 1 mile of no trail coast line in mostly varied rocks some climbing, navigating wet slippery Cliffside, sandy shrubbed overgrowths. Jumped off a few times into the ocean wet unsecure cliff ocean climb back up to repeat, then just swimming it in through surge and waves all the way to shore. Kept them on the beach bus, dinner, discovery stuff continually into the next day a few hours past midnight after some popular club back on the beach after hours fireside. Never a thought of my feet or shoes except for the pleasure of wearing good shoes. Still with me today as for the second day of digging to replace yard drainage system that the "workers" had installed perfectly backwards, at one point find top off old well 4 ft below wet spot in system. Great Shoes/Boots even better sandals. For classic adult refinement but same unmatched quality try the Brown, not the Brown Smooth #different quality materials and build entirely, though appears to be just the colors)........ Timberland's Fisherman Altamont Leather Sandal not as sporty but refined versatile and same unequal quality and perfomabilty. Handsome looking secure feeling comfort from quality craftsmanship and design of Men kept in mind. I have tried 3 other style of Keen and these are the only ones with the bottom sides/heel surrounding of full enclosed leather toe direct into the Keen Traded marked style Big Rubber Toes front that I noticed right away only after trying to figure out by comparison why these instantly felt more secure, comfortable and out performed the others. Also FYI these got more comments and noticeable eyeing than the others 3 combined. 4/28/13

Fashion Police Somehow designers think that the uglier the shoes the more popular they will be with men. This is a trend across all styles of mens shoes. Men revolt - don't buy ugly shoes! I have been searching for fisherman sandals that are rugged, and comfortable for walking a lot, but also enclosed enough that I can wear them to work in the summer. I have searched everywhere, and took a chance on these Keen. Keen makes quality open toe sandals, but I have to admit that I had to return these because they are so ugly. I would be embarrassed to wear them because they look like clown shoes with the wide toe box on the front, and extra ugly tread. No matter how comfortable I just couldn't wear them. Please shoe designers make a pair of men's fisherman sandals that are classic and not ugly - I will buy 10 pairs. 4/21/13

Like Walking on Air I love this shoe. I ordered this shoe becuase where I work we can not wear open toed shoes/sandals. The joy of this shoe is you can still get air to your feet. I have to walk also on gravel daily and this shoe gives you the comfort as though you had on workboots but they are a lot lighter. In comparison they give you the confort of a tennis shoe. In my opinion they are awesume! 8/5/12
