Rafé New York 'Mercado Filipina' Market Tote
Perfect spring/summer tote
I was shopping for a new purse to replace my Michael Kors one because it was so heavy. I originally wanted the tory burch hobo, but didn't feel like shelling out the cash. I was then very interested in the longchamp le pliage bag, but couldn't determine what color I wanted. The colors I wanted we're more suited for fall/winter.
I continued to browsed the nordstrom site and stumbled upon this bag. What drew me to it was the name was mercado Filipina. I am Filipina, so naturally I became very interested. I initially saw the pink one first, and just absolutely needed it. I then did further research and found the other colors. I was going to opt for the pink because it's my favorite color, but wasn't confident it would match all my outfits. I then looked further into what words were on each bag. This bag had malandi on it which means flirtatious. My grandmother always called me this. I selected this color because of the word as well as the fact that it had many other colors. I felt it would match with virtually anything. The blue one says maganda, which means beautiful. The pink one says malambing, which means affectionate.
It's a very large bag, larger than I expected. But it's perfect! I can fit everything I need comfortably, and can't wait to bring it while I travel. The button on the side always pop open though, which I didn't like. But it does so to open the bag wider.
I love the fact it's made of rice sack material, which adds more culture to it. There isn't much compartments. There are two standard slots on one side, and one zip up one on the back. I bought a purseket for it, and it works absolutely amazing. If you don't have a purse organizer though, I could see this getting very messy.
It's lightweight, which is exactly what I wanted. It also is very unique.
I highly recommend this bag to anyone who wants a significantly large purse that's different, and full of culture, with an urban twist!
