Somme Institute Mobile Travel Kit
Using this for 3 weeks now and loving it!
I was researching good skin care products because I recently ran out of Proactiv+ and wasn't satisfied enough with the product to continue using the it. I stumbled upon the Somme Institute's 5-Step Regimen and saw tons of great things about it, so I decided to try it. It is obviously quite expensive, so I purchased the travel kit so I can sample the product without spending too much money. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars only to find out I don't like it. Looks like I'm going to have to, though, because I love this line of skin care products!
I really like the Somme Institute's 5-Step Regimen Travel Kit so far! I have pretty oily skin, but these products do a great job of controlling the oil and more importantly not dry my skin out. I've tried many different face products over the years from all of the cheap-o drug store stuff to more expensive things like Proactiv, Clinque, and Meaningful Beauty. All of these other products were either too weak or too intense. None of those products have made my skin look and feel as good as the Somme Institute's 5-Step Regimen.
Like I previously said, I have pretty oily skin and, as a result, I develop acne fairly easily. I've had to try so many different products because I have never been able to find a line of products that help take care of my acne without drying or irritating my skin. The Somme Institute's 5-Step Regimen does a fantastic job of cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing my face so now there is a huge reduction in the amount of acne in my face and my skin feels softer and smoother.
| Nourishing Cleanser: After the first use of this product, I was a bit skeptical about it's effectiveness in cleansing my face. It doesn't lather, foam, or even have micro scrubbers like most/all of the cleansers I've ever used, so I was unsure if it was cleaning my face at all. I guess I was wrong because my face has never been clearer and even my pores have become less visible. I find no faults with this product.
| Transport Pads: This product does a great job exfoliating! It picks up all of the dirt and dead skin cells that weren't cleansed away. Using the pads for the first time made my face tingle and I thought maybe it was too potent, but I continued to use it and I quickly became used to the pads. Using the pads no long give me a tingling sensation. The product instructions say to use this in the morning and night, but there is clearly not enough pads to use this everyday, twice a day. I only incorporate the pads in my face regimen every other night, but even then I'll probably still run out of pads way before I run out of the other stuff. I wish there were more pads!
| Serum: This product goes on very smooth on my skin. The bottle is quite small, but a little really does go a long way. I find that about one and a half squirts of the serum is enough to cover my entire face, neck, and chest. I used to get tingling sensations when using this product, but just like with the pads, I'm used to the serum now and I don't get those sensations anymore. The serum is not very viscous so it is slightly runny, but it absorbs to the skin very quickly. I find no faults with this product.
| A-bomb: This is one of the best moisturizers I've ever used! It completely hydrates my face without feeling greasy. It has an interesting smell that I don't particularly like. I don't hate the smell and it isn't strong so I'm going to keep using this moisturizer. Unlike the serum, this product has a high viscosity. It is very thick and absorbs very, very quickly to the skin. Almost too quickly, in my opinion. If I don't use quite a substantial dollop of moisturizer, I won't be able to evenly distribute it on my entire face, neck and chest before it starts feeling sticky and pasty. Kind of like rubbing glue on your face. As long as you use enough moisturizer, you'll see a perfectly moisturized and totally smooth and soft skin.
| Double Defense: I use the double defense every morning even if I'm not planning to spend a ton of time out in the sun. This SPF lotion is very light weight and not greasy. Most SPF lotions I've used are heavy, greasy, and have a very strong smell, but not the Double Defense. This thing is so light and non-greasy that I have no problem wearing it under my make-up. As for the smell, it has the same sunblock lotion smell just like everything else, but it isn't as strong so I'm confident in wearing it everyday. I find no faults with this product.
So, overall, I give this product 4 stars rather than 5 because of my cons from the Transport Pads and the A-Bomb and because this line of face products is quite expensive. Despite these things, however, I will still purchase the full sized products in the future once my travel kit runs out. This Mobile Travel Kit has been a perfect sample of the Somme Institute's 5-Step Regimen and now I totally love this product line. I'll probably even purchase the other Somme Institute products.
I bought this to see what all the hype was about. I've been using it for less than a week, but I can already tell that my skin is softer and more hydrated. In fact, I already bought replacements for the transport and a-bomb, because I know I'll need them.
So glad I decided to try this.
As a self proclaimed "skincare junkie", I was excited to test a few products from Somme Institute.
While this is technically a "travel kit", this is perfect for those who want to see what SI is all about.
I have been using this in place as my morning regime, and so far I am very pleased with the results. A little bit goes a long way. This Mobile Travel Kit by Somme Institute was definitely a great investment.
I got this mobile kit because I have to go out of town fairly often and I get tired of using the generic travel bottles that need to be labeled. I am also a regular user of the Somme face care products, which I really like.
I was extremely disappointed to find that the A-bomb in this kit was nothing like the A-bomb I regularly purchase. It was like paste and did not leave my skin feeling hydrated at all. I had to put another product on top of it on my face, as I was out of town when I discovered this flawed sample. Before the next trip I took I tried mixing in some of my regular sized A-bomb creme and even this did not help the consistency of the sample. It is still like paste, but now it is clumpy paste. I did not return the kit because I needed the rest of it to go out of town. I think it is expensive considering the inconsistency of the product.
