Sorel 'Slimpack' Riding Boot
Fit is off for a Sorel
Usually Sorel boots run big and comfortable. These boots are beautiful but the cut and design of the boot makes it very uncomfortable. The stitching around the ankle cuts into your skin and I even ordered a bigger size, as recommended by other reviewers. This is the second boot I tried and they both seem to do this so I will be returning them. These boots are so beautifully designed so it is with much regret that I have to return them.
I bought two of these! First bought the short one from XXXX but I returned as soon as I received the tall ones because the short ones felt like cardboard under my feet. They were cute but with no support. The first pair I got in these I purchased 1/2 size up because I knew it was thin lined and I was going to be putting sheepskin lining in them. They were really big like a while size too big and very wide but it's ok, i ended up putting support insoles and the sheepskin and now they fit and are pretty warm - except when you get snow on top of the toe area which is just rubber. (same problem I have with all sorels, really so not a problem here) The second pair, I ordered 1/2 size up too but these fit more like a M width - so, ony one insert is needed. They are the kind of boots you can walk to and from all over town as the toes push forward but the pair I put orthotics in will work because my foot stops going forward from the arch support in the orhotics. So, if you dont need much support I'd say get your regular size, if you need support or warmth like me, go up 1/2 a size. They are stylish and make your feet look small! I get compliments whenever I wear them!
If you are looking for a winter boot to walk more than from your car to a building you DO NOT want this boot. I love the look of this boot, unfortunately they are some of the most uncomfortable boots I've worn. I walked about two blocks in the snow. The heel made me lose my balance, there is absolutely no cushioning between the ball of your feet and the ground. I do have very thin feet but I was wearing two pairs of wool socks. If you have toes like mine- second toe longer than big toe- you'd better go up one size. My toes were hitting the tip of the boot. I think a bigger size would be too wide in the heel but I might try a bigger size with a thick insole.
I'm in LOVE
I don't usually write reviews but with these boots I just had to. I just bought them today and I never want to take them off! They feel like they are a hundred years old- in a good way. They are so comfy. I live near near a famous park where part of the revolutionary war was fought and I love that these boots have a soldier from that era look to them!
