Theory 'Golda - Tailor' Pencil Skirt
My favorite skirt
I absolutely love this skirt. It is ultra flattering. The only issue is that the skirt does rip. I've had to replace it several times because of tearing at the seams.
Perfect pencil skirt - at last!
Based upon previous reviews, maybe I have a 'boy shaped' body, because this skirt fits me like a dream! I don't have a reference for my normal Theory sizing, the size 2 in this skirt was perfect for me, and I wear a size 2 in other brands as well. I love the lightweight stretch wool fabric, sleek slimming fit, and perfect knee length. I can go strick work dress style, or dress it down, like I did today, with a white tank and shrunken denim jacket topper. Short black heeled booties and I was rocking this skirt! Very comfortable and classic skirt.
Lovely fabric and fit, fatally flawed design
I have the full suit ensemble in two colors, including the pants, dress and skirt, and the skirt and dress have a weakness in the posterior seams that causes them to rip easily and irreparably. I've since ironed patches to the inside of the seams of my intact skirt and dress as a preventative measure. I love the design and fit and wear them quite a bit, and with some hesitation will probably repurchase the skirt (and add a iron on patch before I wear it) just to round out the ensemble so I can get full use of the investment. It appears that the design has changed from two back darts to one in the two years since I first purchased, hopefully as remedy to this problem. Otherwise a lovely suit. I like that the pieces are unlined (except for the jacket, which is lined and beautiful), as they drape nicely and allow comfortable 4 season wear. This does mean that the unlined pieces are less durable.
Ripped getting into a cab
I travel extensively, often to NYC. I saw a previous reviewer say something about ripping, but didn't think that would happen to me. I bought the jacket, pants and skirt in 3 colors because I need good-looking professional wear that is versatile, high-quality, and effortless. I think Theory delivers on most points. BUT I did a rather awkward cab-in-traffic leap last week and felt the skirt rip in the back as I hurriedly tried to get in with my computer bag, etc. It did not rip at either of the back slits; it ripped toward the middle where there is no seam. The skirt was actually a bit loose; so I have to blame it on the stress put on the fabric (it is a pencil) as I stretched to jump in. Nonetheless, it is ruined. Not sure I will replace it. I may switch to the Hugo Boss womens line. Disappointed.
