TOMS 'Sierra' Sandal
These are super cute and simple. I thought they would be a little more comfortable. I couldn't last an entire day in them. But I do like them.
Narrowish feet? Go for it!
First: I wear size 10.5 N. Good luck with that, I hear you saying... No kidding. I'm constantly reading reviews, however, looking for shoes that others say run narrow or a bit long, because that sometimes means they will work for me.
Second: I didn't really get the original Tom's phenomenon. They just never struck me as all that cute, and when I tried them on, they were way too wide on me to bother.
I saw these in the store, having read on-line reviews saying the ankle strap was too short for some, and figured I'd try them. My feet are narrow and I have skinny ankles, but if I can find a sandal with a strap that cinches down snugly, I can sometimes get away with it being a bit wide across the forefoot. I tried these in a 10 first, figuring I'd need an 11 (wish they came in 10.5!!), but the 10 fit pretty well. Okay, so my toes are right at the end of the shoe, but they don't hang over the edge obscenely, which I frankly expected. I knew the 11 would be too wide, and since the sole felt very cushy and comfy, and the price was pretty reasonable, I decided to get them. I haven't yet worn them for a long stretch or walked far, but I wanted to go on the record for those of you with narrow feet who didn't think you could wear Toms. Hope I've helped!
Cute, but runs small
These are super cute, casual summer wedges, which was exactly what I was looking for when I bought them. The neutral color goes with just about everything. However, if you are going to buy them online and not in the store, size up. I normally wear a 7 in TOMS and in pretty much all shoes, but when I tried on the 7, the straps over the toes were cutting into my feet and the ankle strap was uncomfortably tight. The 7.5 fits much better. I don't have wide feet at all, so these shoes run narrow and small. Other than that, they are great!
okay, I guess
As a teacher, I need most of my shoes to be comfy. For hot Southern CA weather, I like to wear wedge sandals, and I've had a variety of Naturalizer, Sofft, and Aerosoles that work well. I'd never bought TOMS and I really wanted to like them (because of the charity work). While they are relatively light, the buckle was terrible for me. I had a difficult time buckling it because it was just too small or something, and ultimately one ankle felt a bit loose, the other a bit too tight. Going out for a little while this would be fine, but I think it would create all kinds of problems if I tried wearing it to school, which was my intent when I bought them. I have high comfort standards for any school shoes, and these just fell short.
For those of you looking for a somewhat comfy, but not really comfy, wedge, this would probably work. Also, if you aren't easily frustrated by buckles. Seriously, it was such a pain to buckle!
