Taking Care of Our Communities: Celebrating Pride Month
Celebrating Pride Month
An explosion of color, glitter and love consumed the streets in cities across the U.S. and Canada as communities came together and celebrated Pride Month in June. As in previous years , hundreds of Nordstrom employees joined their local Pride parades wearing rainbow sunglasses, t-shirts and bracelets and helped spread a message of “Love and Peace to You".
“I have never felt more proud to work for a company who strongly supports me not only as an employee, but as an LGBTQ+ person!” said Jason Dobb, counter manager at Nordstrom Arden Fair in Sacramento, California. “I am truly honored that I was chosen to co-chair our Pride event and march in the Sacramento Pride parade with my family and my coworkers! I am thankful for the diversity and inclusivity that Nordstrom has for all of our employees.”
This year, for the first time, Nordstrom was a proud Platinum Sponsor of NYC Pride!
“I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to get involved with our community than by gathering 200 of our Nordstrom friends and family to help recognize and celebrate the historical contributions of NYC Pride March,” said Chris Wanlass, vice president of Manhattan. “It gave me great pride to know I work for a company that values diversity within our workplace and the communities we help serve.”
Although Pride Month is over, the parades continue with Austin, San Jose and Orlando being just a few examples of cities hosting their parades later this year.
Along with sponsoring 37 parades, Nordstrom launched a digital campaign across several platforms, including Nordstrom.com, national and local social media channels, customer emails and colorful in-store decor in our full-line stores. In addition, the Nordstrom fashion blog, The Thread, talked to five former grand marshals of Pride parades.
At Nordstrom, we are always excited and committed to celebrate and support the many faces of our customers and employees. Thank you to all who participated in Pride this year.
