Nordstrom Sherway Gardens Volunteer Day
The countdown to our sixth Canada full-line store opening has officially begun, with Nordstrom Sherway Gardens set to open on September 15.
Our Sherway Gardens leadership team has been working for months to overcome the usual (and unusual) hurdles that a store opening presents. By working together to deliver on such a task, the team creates a connection that lasts for many years; to strengthen that connection, the group organized a team-building volunteer day.
"We wanted a day for the team to give back and to bond together. What better way than providing a service for our community and our customers?" said Jennifer Gross, Nordstrom Sherway Gardens store manager.
Our teams are always eager to support the local community, even before a new store opens, and the Nordstrom Sherway Gardens team kicked off their store opening journey by partnering with St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation on a team-building volunteer day.
"St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation is one of our co-beneficiaries for our Nordstrom Night Out Gala opening event," said Alexandra Chang Hunter, Nordstrom Sherway Gardens store administrator. "I have volunteered with the Toronto hospital network before and knew it would be a great experience for our team."
The group began their morning with a briefing from the St. Joseph's Health Centre team, then they got right to work. From washing windows and weeding to picking up garbage, the Nordstrom Sherway Gardens team worked diligently on the exterior of the St. Joseph's Health Centre grounds.
"Thank you to the wonderful team from Nordstrom Sherway Gardens for making St. Joe's a better place for our patients. Your leadership group helped make our grounds more welcoming and enjoyable. Soon you'll be supporting our community in the same way," said Maria Dyck, President and CEO of St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation. "We deeply appreciate you partnering with us and making us a co-beneficiary of your September 13th gala opening event. We're looking forward to having you as neighbors and friends. Welcome to Toronto's west end!"
The Nordstrom team ended their volunteer day with a dinner cruise.
"It was an incredible day for us all," Jennifer shared. "We realized how just a few hours of our time can make a serious impact to the patients in the center. This is our local hospital, and we believe strongly in the services they provide to our community and our customers."
Thank you Sherway Gardens for being a great representation of Nordstrom in your community.
